What To Expect On First Visit

We offer an outstanding Hygienist service 7 days a week.

Our hygienist services are so popular because we keep them affordable, and we offer the full range of treatments meaning patients can do all their treatment in one building.

We offer treatment for gum disease, Periodontitis, bad breath, staining, peri-implantitis (implants), and more advanced surgical techniques and even Laser Gum Treatment.

Our hygienists work under the prescription of a dentist, so you will need to have a yearly check-up for £25 each year (plus x-rays, prices below).

This is to primarily check the health of your gums.

We need to ensure that patients who use the hygienist service receive appropriate care, and that the treatment they are receiving is actually resolving their issue.

We offer the full range of treatments including a Scale and Polish, Deep Cleaning, and Non Surgical Periodontal Therapy.

These treatments are prescribed depending on the health of the gums, and patients with more significant gum disease will need more extensive treatment.

Some of these more extensive treatments require the administration of local anaesthetic to ensure a comfortable experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

We use cutting edge ultrasonic devices with tips especially designed to minimise sensitivity during your treatment.

Sensitivity is a common issue in patients of all ages, and all hygienist treatments can be associated with sensitivity.

We have learnt useful techniques to minimise this however such as increasing the temperature of the water and offering local anaesthetic.

If sensitivity is a significant issue, we will recommend seeking treatment by one of our dentists.

Where there is significant gum disease and recession, we can refer you to our own gum disease dentists, who are able to offer the full range of surgical gum treatment.

Yes you can, but you would need to get your dentist to provide you with a referral letter prescribing the specific hygienist treatment.

We find most other dentists are unwilling to offer this service however, and many patients start seeing our dentists for their yearly check up (£25 plus the cost of x-rays).

Yes, there is! Patients who need a scale and polish and attend more regularly (3 monthly), are offered Scale and Polishes at a discounted rate of £55 instead of £65.

We believe in doing things properly.

Our ethos has always been simple: offer the treatment a patient genuinely needs; not the quickest, easiest, or most commercially convenient option.

When it comes to hygiene care, many patients don’t realise that what we provide is fundamentally different from some practices that offer “direct access hygiene” without proper diagnostic oversight.

The General Dental Council requires that direct access hygiene patients undergo an appropriate assessment and in almost all cases, that includes suitable radiographs such as bitewings or, where indicated, larger diagnostic X-rays. Unfortunately, we regularly see patients who have spent years attending hygiene appointments without ever having had adequate radiographic assessment.

The long-term consequence is serious.

Patients may spend thousands of pounds over many years, believing they are maintaining their gum health, only to discover later that periodontal disease has been misdiagnosed or significantly undertreated.

When those patients come to us for a full examination, they are often shocked to learn that bone loss, recession, mobility, or advanced inflammation has progressed despite regular visits elsewhere.

Periodontal disease is extremely common. In the UK adult population, around 45% have some form of periodontitis.

Approximately 30–35% present with moderate disease, and around 8–10% suffer from severe periodontitis. Gingivitis, the early, reversible stage, affects the majority of adults at some point. Without proper diagnosis and structured management, mild inflammation can silently progress to irreversible bone loss.

Our promise to our patients is straightforward: we will always do things properly.

That means evidence-based diagnosis, appropriate radiographs, full periodontal charting, gold-standard treatment planning, and expert-led therapy with structured long-term maintenance. Gum health is not a one-off polish; it is a lifelong commitment.

In our experience, purely cosmetic or poorly supervised hygiene services tend to “get found out” after a few years, when patients realise that bad breath, gum recession, bleeding, or sensitivity have progressed despite countless hours in the dental chair.

Prevention only works when it is built on proper diagnosis. And that is something we will never compromise on.

We deliberately keep our Check-Up and Hygienist services as affordable as possible. In 2026, a regular patient with stable gums on a standard recurring hygiene maintenance programme pays just £25 for their annual examination, £9 per bitewing X-ray, and £55 for their three-monthly scale and polish appointments.

That means a total annual investment of approximately £263 for properly supervised, evidence-based preventive care. If you choose to have 6 monthly scale and polishes, the annual cost is approximately £193 instead.

Remarkably, these fees have remained essentially unchanged since 2014.

We consider this pricing exceptional on a national level, let alone in Cambridge, particularly given the level of diagnostic oversight, clinical governance, and expert-led care included.

Prevention only works when it is done properly.

Our commitment is to make gold-standard care not only available, but genuinely accessible.
