Wisdom Tooth Extraction Cambridge

Wisdom tooth extraction is often perceived as complex or painful.

At Cambridge Dental Hub, we provide specialist-led wisdom tooth removal in Cambridge with a focus on precision, comfort, and efficiency.

Our oral surgery team is one of the most experienced in the country, including two surgeons on the Specialist Register, a surgeon with a PhD in Oral Surgery, and dentists with Master’s degrees in Oral Surgery.

This depth of expertise allows us to manage everything from routine wisdom tooth extractions to complex impacted wisdom teeth with complete confidence.

While we always aim to preserve natural teeth, wisdom tooth extraction is sometimes the safest and most predictable solution for patients experiencing pain, swelling, or recurrent infection.

As a seven-day emergency dentist in Cambridge, we are frequently able to offer same-day wisdom tooth extraction, with most procedures completed at the first visit.

Advanced 3D CBCT imaging is available in-house where required, ensuring accurate diagnosis and meticulous surgical planning.

If you are experiencing wisdom tooth pain in Cambridge, early assessment by a highly experienced oral surgery team ensures the safest and most comfortable outcome.

Dry Socket After Tooth Extraction

Severe pain after a tooth extraction can sometimes be caused by dry socket.

This happens when the blood clot in the socket is lost, leaving the area sensitive.

Your dentist will gently examine the area and may take an X-ray to rule out any other causes.

Treatment is straightforward and very effective, focusing on relieving pain and helping the area heal.

This usually involves cleaning the socket, placing a soothing medicated dressing, and providing pain relief if needed. You may also be shown how to keep the area clean at home.

With the right care, symptoms usually improve quickly, and healing can continue normally.

Swish the salt water around the tooth, trying to get into the areas your toothbrush cannot reach.

An antibacterial mouthwash such as Corsodyl can also reduce the inflammation.

Pain-relieving tablets such as paracetamol or aspirin can also be useful in the short term, but see your dentist if the pain continues.

The dentist will usually take x-rays to see the position of the root, and to see whether there is room for the tooth to come through into a useful position.
